I was prescribed an anti-depressant and didn't want to go on one again. My doctor asked if I had ever tried Sam-e. After taking 400 mg once a day for a couple of weeks, I noticed I was feeling like my old self again. Slight constipation and some dry mouth in the morning, but I can live with that since I feel so much better. I recently increased my magnesium and the constipation is improving. I ... But I have a recurring problem with depression. It would last for months but eventually would come back. One problem I have found is that I am prone to UTI's and each time I take SAMe I get one. Could be coincide ... Show Full Comment

I read about this treatment last year and as with any "pill", I was hesitant. I believe my problems are actually four-fold: 1) depression 2) obesity 3) fibromyalgia 4) osteoarthritis. I've been taking this for 3 weeks now and feel better than I've felt in years! No joint or muscle pain has improved by 95%, I was sleeping at least 14 hours per 24 hour period and I'm now sl ... Comment:
I was desperate to find a non-prescription or natural alternative for depression, as I am currently without health insurance. In my search I found SAMe. It is by prescription only in some European countries, so I thought I would try it if the European doctors are prescribing it. I started with the dose of 400mg and have been taking it in the morning before starting my day. I read that taking la ... Show Full Comment
